I (Jen Lukas) am excited about Pincurl Girls because it encourages all to seek their own happiness and find their genius within.
I created Pincurl Girls during graduate school. Without warning almost as instantly as I was accepted to graduate school I lost my self-confidence. Previously, I had been a successful art director at one of the biggest advertising agencies in Kansas City. But once I hit the academic studio things shifted in my perception of myself. I didn't think I was good enough, smart enough or the right kind of artist. Looking back I realized those were the hardest three years of my life. I started drawing my inner child to cope with all my self-doubts.
She continued to speak to me over the years and was my muse and guidance consoler through graduate school. This inner child matured along with me and now we both want to encourage other girls who may doubt themselves to look for happiness, express their artistic talents and believe in themselves. The Pincurl Girls project includes self-esteem exercises and inspirational wall art. Please contact Jen at Pincurl Girls if you have any questions.
