Yoga for kids
    Kids’ yoga is a great opportunity for youth to take a break from their busy lives while they exercise. In our fast paced, technology driven society—children rarely have a peaceful moment to relax and just be. Yoga provides that opportunity and many more benefits. Judi Olivetti, Certified Yoga Teacher and owner of Yoga Roots to Go, said “Yoga increases attention span for kids and gives them a way to diffuse anger and frustration. It also helps them to feel how they feel and find a little peace within.”

    Yoga can calm a child’s mind and relax their body. And with America struggling with an epidemic of obesity and approximately one third of Lincoln children overweight or obese; yoga offers another option to keep young bodies moving during these harsh winter months (and in the heat of the summer, too).     It’s a good idea to have your child practice yoga on an empty stomach (2-4 hours after a large meal). Don’t allow your child to do yoga if she is ill and do alert the teacher if she has any specific medical conditions such as asthma or migraine headaches. Yoga is a great activity for athletes and non athletes: it’s not competitive so any child can excel.
