Sacred Sanskrit Words: for Yoga, Chant and Meditation
by
Leza Lowitz Mary Beth Sammons
and
Reema Datta
Available from Amazon .
from and Amazon reviewer:
"Sukha" is the word I have chosen from "Sacred Sanskrit Words" to describe my feelings while studying this book. Sukha means, in short "ease, peace, inner joy." Sacred Sanskrit Words is a wonderful tool to have in order to make the most of yoga, meditation, and chant sessions."

Quotation of the Month
"Look well to this day, for it is life, the very life of life. In it lies all the realities and verities of existence: the bliss of growth, the glory of action, splendor of beauty. For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow only a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day, for it and it alone is life! Such is the salutation of the dawn."

 Turkey Avgolemono Soup serves 8
- 2 quarts turkey stock (or low-sodium chicken stock)
- 3/4 cup long grain white rice
- 2 cups roasted turkey, shredded
- 4 eggs
- 2 lemons, juiced
Heat stock in a large, heavy bottomed pot until boiling. Add rice, reduce heat to a simmer, cover. Cook 8-10 minutes, until rice is almost fully cooked but still al dente. Remove soup from heat and add shredded turkey. In a medium bowl, beat eggs and then whisk in lemon juice. One ladle at a time, whisk hot soup slowly into egg mixture. This will temper the eggs and allow them to heat without curdling. Once you have added 3 or 4 ladles, pour warm egg mixture into soup pot. Return to low heat and cook, while stirring, until soup has thickened slightly but has not come to a boil. Serve immediately with a salad and crusty bread.

Whoa! Here it goes! I cannot believe we are writing December newsletter! Another glorious year!
The year is coming to an end like every cycle in life. We NEED to let one die for the new to be born. It happens with people. It happens with plants. It happens with relationships...
What a great opportunity to contemplate and be grateful for what you are letting go and to open up full-heartedly for what is to come. Take a moment to think about the highlights of your life the past year. Close your eyes, make a list, and breathe in the gratitude and the joy. As you exhale, give your farewell to those memories. Let go. Now take a moment to feel your body and experience your breath. Ask yourself, "What do I want to manifest in 2012?" Pause at the bottom of the exhale and settle to receive and (yes, I say) to manifest. It's up to you. It all starts with intention, and the energy builds around that intention so dense that it materializes! Now close your eyes again, and let's jump to one year from now. Start visualizing December 2012 and what things are you are grateful for that have already happened. Breathe it all in...pay attention to the details, the colors, the smells, the sounds... how you feel being there right now...
My wish for you this holiday season is that you experience and embody your heart's deepest desire, starting by you being best version of you AND beyond, that you celebrate YOU and yours, that you find intimate moments to gaze into the eyes of those you love...to share silence...to share a breath. My wish is that you live the path of practice in every encounter, in every family reunion, in every meal, that you share your light with others and for others. As Leza Lowitz and Reema Datta beautifully express in Sacred Sanskrit Words: "The true purpose of practising yoga is not for the self, but for the welfare of humanity. Through the science of yoga, individuals awaken peace, strength and knowledge within, to ultimately share it with others." The mantra is LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU -- May all beings everywhere attain happiness and freedom.
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.. May we all bathe in our inner light as an offering to the world!

Beginning in January -- Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 11:30 -- Free Yoga Nidra
New NEW FREE COMMUNITY Yoga Nidra Class guided by Sree Devi recordings:Yoga NIdra is a powerful guided meditative practice grounded in Tantric Yoga.
When you are tired you simply go to bed, but unless you are free from muscular, mental and emotional tensions, you are never fully relaxed. You may wake up in the morning with a feeling of fatigue, restlessness and inadequate rest. In order to relax completely, the inner tensions, emotions and mind must be released. This complete state of relaxation can be achieved through yoga nidra. In yoga nidra, sowing of seeds of change begins in sankalpa (resolve or resolution) which you make for yourself during each practice. The sankalpa is impressed on the subconscious mind when it is receptive and sensitive to auto-suggestion. Sankalpa is a determination to become someone or do something in life. It thus has to be made when your mind is completely at rest or peace. Before and after the practice of yoga nidra, should ideally be the time dedicated to Sankalpa. Yoga nidra enables the person to be conscious in this state and nurture the seed of great will power, inspire the higher self, and enjoy the vitality of life.
