Who needs private yoga?

New students looking for a way to feel comfortable with yoga before attending their first group class. Many people feel intimidated by attending group classes if they are new to yoga. In a private session we walk our new clients through the basic principles of Inner Power Yoga: breath work, the cores of the body, the laws of Spanda, and basic yoga postures. The goal is not to teach the client everything there is to know about yoga in one session, but to familiarize the client to the yoga practice while building an intimate relationship to their body in order to serve their needs.

New or regular clients with injuries or new clients with little to no background in physical exercise. At YBB we have found that clients new to stretching or new to exercise in general benefit greatly from a private yoga session. During the session our teachers will evaluate where the client is in their body and identify modifications needed in poses in order to protect the safety of the client so that when they attend a group class they feel confident modifying poses to serve their needs.

Regular or advanced clients seeking to deepen their personal practice. Like all things in life, we need a community to support and assist us through our goals and aspirations. For many with a long-running yoga practice it is beneficial to meet one-on-one with a familiar instructor in order to work on particular poses or aspects of the yoga practice they have had trouble reaching through group classes. Many clients work one-on-one with instructors to help them build a safe inversion or arm balancing practice, or to simply assist in breath work during basic poses. This can be an incredibly rewarding and pleasurable experience for practitioners who feel they need the special attention of two extra eyes and hands to bring them to where they want to be in their practice.

Why are private lessons important?

Just one private yoga class can improve your yoga practice immensely. In the beginning, yoga was taught only one-on-one; the great ancient teachers understood the importance of individualizing each yoga experience to fit the needs of each student, as well as the importance of assisting a student in developing a more intimate, personal yoga practice. It is an invaluable tool for students of all levels and experience. Private yoga can help you deepen your practice, gain confidence, answer questions and receive guidance.

Semi Private Yoga

For those seeking an individualized yoga experience but who want to share the space with another person or group of people you love, semi-private yoga sessions are for you! Bring your friend, your lover, your spouse, your kids, your neighbor, semi private yogaor anyone you know who would benefit from some personal attention from a yoga instructor, and enjoy the benefits of a private yoga session but with the support of others who, like you, are learning and loving yoga.

Many people are more comfortable with a semi-private than a one-on-one session, and some just enjoy the experience of having company in a private session. Whatever your reason may be, a semi-private lesson is a great way to get the quality instruction of a one-on-one session at a lower cost.
